SRBA History by Dan Scott, Director…

How was Spyder Riders of Broken Arrow born?

Well, after several years of being associated with the Gold Wing Road Riders, Cheryl and I found ourselves with a lot of time on our hands. Time to explore new things and in totally different areas. We still had “Ms Daisy” our beautiful Goldwing, which by the way has won numerous shows. One day we were heading to Bixby and saw this 3 wheel creature in a ladies front yard for sale. On the way back we decided to take a look at it and see just what this was! Turns out it was a 2011 Can-Am Spyder Limited. After a couple of days we decided to go back and take another look. The nice lady convinced me to take it for a ride. Bad Mistake! I was hooked needless to say. After a few day trips we decided to give her a true test. So, off’ to Harrison, Arkansas we go towing a trailer! 1 must say, even today, she was my favorite Spyder. Not because of the power, it was just something special.

Keep in mind we had been involved with a very large motorcycle organization, Done everything from Membership Enhancement Coordinators, International Recruiters of the Year (3) times, Chaper Couple (2) years, District Couple and Chapter Directors. So I enjoyed being around people, a lot
of people. I asked Cheryl and our best friends one day during lunch if they remembered the famous phrase, “I have a Dream”, They all looked at me
like I was nuts! Yes, of course we remember. What is going through you head now one of them asked. Well, “‘I too have a Dream”. A dream of starting
something that hasn’t ever been done in Oklahoma. I want to start our very own Spyder Chapter!

You’ve got to be kidding Cheryl said followed by Kate, not so much from Bruce, the other couple. Yes, I said. I think it would be awesome having a
Chapter like no other in Oklahoma and maybe in the entire United States. Oh my Cheryl said. You and your Dreams! After a few more short weeks and a lot of visiting with the two local Spyder Dealers in the Tulsa area, it was decided to have a organizational meeting and test the waters. Honda of Tulsa and Shaggy’s Power Sports then in Broken Arrow, started advertising for us. We made flyers and posted them everywhere we could think of that people would see and be interested. Now comes the first meeting! Apple Barrel here we come and man did we come! Our little “”Apple Room” was completely full and some in the hall way! Over 40 people showed up! 1 explained the best I could, Honda of Tulsa and Shaggy’s was in the house helping answer questions that I had no idea. This all helped drive us home, That night, it was very clear to myself, Cheryl and our friends, Bruce and Kate that the Spyder Riders of Broken Arrow was going to be born. After talking with a coporate attorney and several of my new friends that I just made, our First Meeting was scheduled.

August 15 2016 the “Can-Am Spyer Riders”‘ were born. It was decided later to change the name of the chapter to “Spyder Riders of Broken Arrow” which has a much better ring we all thought, So my friends, now you all know how the Spyder Riders of Broken Arrow came about. By one guy
by the name of Dan Scott “Having A Dream” and fulfilling that dream.

Soon after, that same guy had another Dream! It’s called “Green Country Spyder Jamboree” (which some said it would never last!! )
